Let's start with music and announce the first concert from this
year's repertoire of the 2nd Valamar Jazz Festival!
Hamleto Stamato Quintet
City Theatre Poreč, April 19 at 20,00 h
As a sort of musical introduction to the 2nd Valamar Jazz
Festival and jazz summer 2011, the Festival team, Valamar Hotels & Resorts and
POU Poreč are inviting you to a free jazz treat.
Within their European tour, the pianist Hamleto Stamato and his quintet will
perform at City Theatre Poreč on April 19, 2011. The concert of one of the most
important representatives of the younger generation of Brazilian jazz musicians
will start at 20 h and the entrance will be free!
Hamleto Stamato grew up in a family of musicians, and his father, a top saxophonist
and flutist, was a member of the band of Hermeto Pascoal, the icon of Brazilian
music. Hamleto started to play the piano at the age of six, he graduated from the
university Estácio de Sá in Rio de Janiero, started his professional career in 1998
and released his first album as a leader in 2003. As arranger and pianist, Stamato
worked with almost all prominent Brazilian musicians, including João Bosco, Milton
Nascimento, Ivan Lins, Caetano Veloso… Currently, his quintet performs with
the famous singer Leny Andrade.
The concert of Hamleto Stamato will be the announcement of 2nd Valamar Jazz
Festival which will be held in Poreč from July 6 to July 9, 2011 featuring...Richard
Galliano, Tania Maria, Tom Harrell, Nils Landgren, Miguel Zenon, Tamara Obrovac
and Massimo Savić.
Live jazz will accompany the audience of Valamar Jazz Festival and the visitors
of Poreč through the charming narrow streets of the old town and on the terraces
of coffee bars and clubs, while the jam sessions will be held in the elegant garden
of the unique Villa Polesini.
