The Leaning Tower isn't the only resource of which Pisa can be proud. If that building could speak, it would surely speak the name
ARGENTI. If that building could hear its native son perform, it would undoubtedly give him a standing ovation (That's one way to keep that structure on its feet).
Ferdinando Alessio Argenti began studying piano at the age of seven. By the time he was 21, this multi-faceted artist was a full time professional musician.
Performing throughout most of Europe as a pianist, keyboardist, vocalist, composer and arranger, Argenti's skills rapidly gained recognition. He played with many of the finest Italian and American
musicians, most notably Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler
and the Artie Shaw band.
Ferdinando's brilliant jazz piano sound and improvisational style are a composite of
Charlie Parker's be-bop, Oscar Peterson's blend of bop and swing, the lyrical approach of
Bill Evans and some of the harmonic innovations and rhythmic feel of Herbie Hancock
and Chick Corea.
His sensitive vocal phrasing and delivery can primarily be attributed to his great admiration for
Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker. But to those of us fortunate enough to have
experiencenced Argenti in action, he has found his own definitive style,
which is consistently innovative, soulful and
"in the pocket".
Currently based in Boston, where he had graduated from Berklee College of Music,
Ferdinando continues to pursue and perfect his craft while teaching others to do likewise.
He has run the gamut of gigs as a solo artist, tasteful accompanist, active member of many small groups and big bands. Throughout these varied forms of entertainment in clubs and concerts, Argenti's ultimate goal has long been to lead his own ensemble. To that end, he has spent some time selecting the finest musicians and material for his debut CD. His attention to detail is evident in his
"fine-tuned" arrangements of "Song for Suzanne" or "Raccontami di te", only two of the fourteen
musical gems included.
Whether "Ferdi's mood" is romantic or swinging, latin or lush, you can count on Ferdinando to turn
in a sterling performance. Could it be just a coincidence that Argenti means silver? I think not!

Argenti is a gifted player with both a fluid imagination and great hands .
Moved by the music, he moves a lot when he plays - bounces on the bench, taps both his feet, rises up on occasion, seems transported . It is a visceral experience to be listening to
Argenti's imaginative improvisation and at the same time watch this talented artist play his heart out, serving up food for the soul .

I especially enjoy the original music of Signor Argenti . He is a fine composer and musician who deserves to be heard all over the world . His music reminds me of the Italian
"verismo". Bravo!
