Downbeat Magazine affirms: "Alon Nechustan is a talent to
watch, with a surfeit of ideas, an unbridled spirit and a bold, two fisted sense
of architecture".
JazzTimes Magazine says about "Words Beyond": "This stellar threesome blends daring
instincts and dazzling virtuosity into organic expression".
Since moving to New York City in early 2003, Alon has played piano and collaborated
with jazz greats including William Parker, Daniel Carter, Roy Campbel, Sam Ford,
Bob Moses, Ben Allison, and many more. He has been a guest of Kenny Wollesen's Himalayas,
Nick Gianni's Evolution, Root Valdez and QB3. Alon founded his quintet TALAT in
2002, and the ensemble recorded "The Growl" on John Zorn's Tzadik Records. The group
has played and toured throughout the U.S., U.K., Canada, Israel and Europe, and
performed in NYC venues such as The Blue Note and Joe's Pub.
Alon's first solo CD is a joyful immersion into his original compositions, inspired
sometimes by Mendelssohn, sometimes Thelonius Monk or Keith Jarrett.
