Fantastic news!!!
Lalo Schifrin at Lodz Film Festival

Lalo Schifrin, legendary film music composer (Mission: Impossible, Dirty Harry, Rush Hour, Bullitt and over 100 more), has confirmed his partizipation in the renown Lodz Film Festival in Poland this year, where on July 8, 2011 he will perform with the Arthur Rubinstein Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra a concert of FILM MUSIC CLASSICS, featuring a lot of his own hits ! Lodz is Poland´s hub for film and television and Academy Award winners Roman Polanski, Zbigniew Rybcynski and Andrzej Wajda have studied here.

Lalo Schifrin is one of a very few artists with double digit Grammy nominations, a Star on the "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood, 6 Academy Award ("Oscar") nominations, the French Ordre des Artes et Lettres and many, many more …

Lalo Schifrin was discovered by Dizzy Gillespie in the late 50ies who engaged him as musical director and pianist for his band. The "Gillespiana", that Lalo Schifrin composed and arranged for Dizzy´s big band (with Quincy Jones on fourth trumpet) became a million seller and got Lalo his first movie engagement: "Joyride" with Jane Fonda. He then continued to compose and record iconic movie melodies, the best known - Mission: Impossible - became a hit for several generations of movie goers.

But Lalo Schifrin also left his mark in classical music. He arranged the music for the summits of the "3 Tenors" in between 1994 and 2006 - they sold altogether around 100 million albums, and also the "Christmas in Vienna" specials with Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras.

In the past 15 years Lalo Schifrin has dedicated a lot of his time to bring jazz and classical music closer together with his series of concerts and albums titled "Jazz Meets the Symphony". Audiences from London to Los Angeles, Montreux to Pori and Sydney to Buenos Aires have enjoyed this unique mix of music arranged or composed for jazz soloists with symphony orchestra.
