Pianist
Danilo Memoli (Napoli, 1964) starts
to study jazz in 1984.
After workshops with Barry Harris, Gary Burton and Lee Konitz
he attends Siena Jazz Seminars with Franco d'Andrea and Riccardo
Zegna, also playing with Paolo Fresu, Andrea Dulbecco and
Ettore Martin his own extended composition
"October Suite" (1989).
From
1992 his professional activity includes
Jazz Festivals and clubs in Italy and abroad (Antibes-Juan Les Pins, Paris, Madrid,
Barcelona, Terrassa, Alicante, Tamsweg, Davos, Lustenau, New York), with various
musicians: Bruno Marini, Mauro Negri, Robert Bonisolo, Flavio
Boltro, Pietro Tonolo, Roberto Rossi, David Boato, Maurizio
Caldura, Carlo Atti, Piero Odorici,
Marco Tamburini, Gianni Cazzola, Nicoletta Manzini,
Fabrizio Bosso, Jim Snidero,
Kurt Weiss, Tony Scott, Ciara Arnette, Cheryl Porter,
Gregg August, Tom Kirkpatrick, Steve Sleagle, John Mosca,
Steve Grossman, Philip Harper, Eddie Henderson...
From the early '90s he plays steadily
with Atti, Sands, Weiss, Kirkpatrick, Mosca and
particularly in the Steve Grossman Quartet - as well as free-lancing with
his trio (extensive tours with Eddie Henderson, Jim Snidero, John
Mosca and others). His own record "Jazz"
(AGR 002, available at
www.blizzardrecords.com/bands/620)
features this trio plus Mosca and Grossman as guest stars.
He also worked as assistant for pianist Garry Dial at the Manhattan
School of Music of New York (2 years), as well as in workshops with Bill
Frisell, Tom Kirkpatrick and Lee Konitz, and teaches jazz piano
and ensemble in North Italy.

On July 1 2004
he recorded his second cd, "FELIEC",
where he plays with his stady trio a handful of recent original compositions as
well as a few particular arrangements of Caravan, Old Devil Moon and You & The Night
& The Music. He has been recently interviewed by the monthly JAZZ MAGAZINE (nr.
22, Sept. 2004).
