 Born in Palermo on June 13th 1974, he started playing el. bass when he was 13 and after few years he approached the double bass earning the diploma, with the maximum grade, at music conservatory "Vincenzo Bellini" of Palermo, under tha guide of Maestro Franco Muzzi.
He grew up in a very creative environment performing many different styles of music including jazz, latin, rhythm & blues, world, classic, brasilian music.
Luca also worked as a music teacher for the city hall of Palermo and in different private music schools.
Since 1994 he has been a member of the etno band "Tammorra" which whom he recorded two CDs: "Ballu Tunnu" (1994) and "Sali" (2001) produced by the german label BIBER RECORDS. Luca has performed in numerous festivals in Italy and all over Europe Austria, Switzerland, Portugal (VI° Festival Sete Sois Sete Luas 34 concerts), Holland, France, Spain, Slovenia, Germany, where in1999 with the band Tammorra won the 8th edition of the ‘Folk Herbst Fest' in Plauen.
He earned the diploma at the "European School of Jazz Orchestra" (teachers: Gunther Schuller, Bill Russo, Pietro Tonolo, Marcello Piras, Piero Leveratto, Dusko Gojkovich, Mario Raja) with the grade of 27/30 and, with the same orchestra, performed the italian premiere of the NEW ORLEANS SUITE (D. Ellington) under the direction of Bill Russo. In 2001 he recorded the CD "Balarm", with the band Djun Djun, in which are presents tracks written by himself.
In 2002 he composed and performed the music of "Garibaldi", a short movie directed by S. Pecoraro.
In 2003 he performed the "Claude Bolling's suite for cello & jazz piano trio" at the "Teatro Politeama Garibaldi" of Palermo (7 Concerts).
In 2004 he has performend, with Tammorra, at Rain Forest World Music Festival Sarawak Borneo Malaysia.
In 2005 he played in the theatrical pièce 'Il trionfo di Santa Rosalia' of S. Licata for the direction of Luigi Maria Burruano with L. M. Burruano.
At present he collaborates with the songwriter Pippo Pollina with whom he has recorded the CD Bar Casablanca (2004) and performed during the long tour (117 concerts!) in which the album was presented in Europe in 2005.
In January 2006 the show, by him planned, 'La Scomparsa di Majorana' has been presented in premiere in Berlin at the Werkstatt Der Kulturen, in cooperation with 'Teatro Instabile Berlino ', and now has become also a CD published by the italian label Silta Records.
