Stanislao Carlo (Stan) Caracciolo was born in Milano in
1939. High School and Chemical Engineering degree
at the Politecnico University of Milano (1963). He lives in Milano and, as engineer,
has traveled around the world for forty years. Fan of classic music and jazz from
his childhood, he dedicated himself to play banjo and acoustic guitar. From the
very beginning he joined as banjoist historical Italian bands like the Foggy
City Jazz Band and the
Ticinum Jazz
Band, one of the most popular and successful groups, where he still
plays. With them he has performed in all the major European Jazz Festivals and made
tours also in North Africa and Latin America.
In 2005 he has founded and
lead the MILANO SWINGTET, a quartet of talented musicians with the aim of
offering a swing repertoire also in the classic music area. The quartet was successfully
included several times in chamber-music programs. Later he has organized other groups
dedicated to Dixieland and Swing.
All his bands are called with the name of his city: Milano.
All the musicians of his groups are well known and appreciated Italian professional
jazz players. Several CD have been recorded. In his concerts Stan plays only vintage
instruments of his collection.
