"Carlo's
smooth sound will entrance you, his understated charm will win you over."
Feature engagements with various ensembles as well as regular dates in
one of Toronto's hottest martini bars have made Carlo Berardinucci, in a
very short while, a favourite with local fans of popular standards and classic crooners.
Along with building a loyal fan base, he has attracted the attention and support
of prominent individuals in the city's music industry. As an actor and singer, he
has also had the opportunity to lend his talents to various Canadian and American
TV and film productions. Carlo has sung with some of this country's finest musicians
– Norman Marshall Villeneuve, Bernie Senensky, Ross MacIntyre,
Joel Haynes, Bryden Baird, Pat Collins, Andrew Scott,
Nathan Hiltz, Peter Hill, George Koller, Paul Delong,
John Macleod, Anthony Michelli to name a few.
Having
fine-tuned his talent, first as a student of Theatre Performance and Voice at Concordia
University then as a performer in numerous jazz clubs in Toronto, Carlo has set
the stage for his latest production, his debut CD, "She
Made Me Do It." In addition to original compositions, he has included
a collection of standards. Even though these songs have been borrowed from an earlier
era you will not hear the ghosts of singers past. What you will hear is a sound
rich in emotion and authenticity. Some of the music is uplifting, some soulful,
and some heartrending but all of it is warm and engaging.
"I refer to him as a "Charming Canadian Crooner." Carlo possesses one of the
loveliest and most promising instruments on our Toronto scene. He's remarkable not
only because of his considerable vocal gifts, but because of his honesty and sensitivity.
This is also one of the nicest, most genuine individuals, and I am happy to offer
him my support because it's good to see a nice guy finish first for a change."
George Evans, Canadian Jazz Vocalist and radio host on Jazz 91.1 FM
"Carlo Berardinucci sings classic ballads with some of the same period flair
that distinguishes jazz-pop crossover sensation Michael Bublè."
Stuart Broomer, Toronto Life Magazine November 2008
"Some of the highlights for me from She Made Me Do It include a rendition of
the standard Bye Bye Blackbird that Carlo makes his own with that great Italian
vocalist confidence, à la Bennett or Sinatra. Another standard,
Nature Boy, is beautifully sung to the snappy bass
intro by Collins. The performance is a tribute to Berardinucci's excellent
pitch control, and leans more to
Kurt Elling
than Nat King Cole"
Bill McLean, Beach Metro, February 2009
