Nobody plays the Saxophone quite like Jan Garbarek. His sound has become an unmistakable
trademark and this sound for some time now has acquired another dimension than what
is generally understood as Jazz. Innumerable record releases, concerts in the most
significant concert-halls throughout the world, the many years he collaborated with
Keith Jarrett or his unprecedented work with the Hilliard Ensemble have made this
unique Saxophonist popular across all musical genres and borders.
In his compositions and improvisations Jan Garbarek is a master of unbelievable
tuneful music that cuts right into our soul. His concerts develop in a highly organic
manner providing a wide ark of rising tension. This music sounds simple and complex
at the same time, this music is hymnal and sparse, playful and serious, immersed
and exceptionally open, intense rather than sentimental.
On his current tour Jan Garbarek will be accompanied by his keyboardist of many
years, Rainer Brüninghaus, the e-bassist from Brazil, Yuri Daniel and master drummer
Trilok Gurtu from India. These musicians guarantee that the mutual journey will
offer an extraordinary concert experience filled with magical moments

Nel suo tour attuale Jan Garbarek sarà insieme al tastierista che lo accompagna
da anni, Rainer Brüninghaus, al bassista brasiliano Yuri Daniel e al maestro della
batteria Trilok Gurtu, dall'India. Questi musicisti, tutti altamente preparati dal
punto di vista tecnico, presentano un concerto straordinario, pieno di momenti magici,
di una densità sonora inconfondibile, capaci di generare spazi musicali che lasciano
tracce nel profondo dell'ascoltatore – una sensazione sensuale.
Nessuno suona il sassofono come Jan Garbarek. Il suo suono è diventato un inconfondibile
marchio che ha talvolta acquisito una dimensione diversa da quella generalmente
indicata come Jazz.
Gli innumerevoli album pubblicati, i concerti nelle sale più importanti del mondo,
la prolungata collaborazione con Keith Jarrett e l'opera senza precedenti con l'Hilliard
Ensemble, hanno dato a questo sassofonista unico una popolarità senza confini di
genere.
A lui non è mai importato nulla del bisogno dei critici di creare etichette comode
e di inserire gli artisti all'interno di categorie musicali definite: Garbarek sfugge

classica o pop. Fin dai primi giorni della ECM, Garbarek è stato uno dei artisti
di maggior successo dell'etichetta.
Certamente, non è il suono da solo a fare la musica. Jan Garbarek è un maestro nel
