Il Beppe Di Benedetto 5tet è nato nel 2005. See The Sky, il primo album del quintetto, contenente brani originali composti dal trombonista Beppe Di Benedetto, prodotto dall’etichetta discografica TRJ Records, è uscito sul mercato italiano ed internazionale nel Novembre 2011, riscuotendo un ampio consenso da parte del pubblico e della critica specializzata. Il progetto porta avanti la tradizione jazzistica statunitense filtrata e arricchita dalla melodia italiana e dalle sonorità mediterranee.

BEPPE DI BENEDETTO è un trombonista, compositore e arrangiatore. La sua passione per la musica inizia in un momento ben preciso, a 12 anni, quando il suo papà tornò a casa con una strana custodia nera nelle sue mani. All’interno c’era uno strumento musicale, luccicante, profumava di nuovo. La continua curiosità di catturare i segreti della musica, hanno portato Beppe ad avere la possibilità di condividere il palcoscenico con molti importanti artisti della scena nazionale ed internazionale: Eumir Deotado, Solomon Burke, Bob Mintzer, Paul Anka, Burt Bacharach, Paul Anka, Mario Biondi, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Hengel Gualdi, Jovanotti, Antonella Ruggero, Fabrizio Bosso, Lorenzo Tucci, Daniele Scannapieco, Giovanni Amato, Claudio Filippini, Andrea Tofanelli, Massimo Manzi, Ellade Bandini, Christian Meyer, Michael Rosen, Ernesstico, Mark Harris, Luca Mannutza, Tullio De Piscopo e molti altri. Beppe Di Benedetto ha collaborato con vari artisti in progetti discografici: Jovanotti (Collettivo Soleluna, Jovalive 2002), Mario Biondi (I Love You More, If, Yes You Live, Due), Alexia (Gli Occhi Grandi Della Luna), Jazz Art Orchestra (8 ½ , Drums), Kikkombo (Freddo Freddo, Wild Bloom); ha collaborato per qualche anno con varie produzioni televisive per Rai e Mediaset, è stato arrangiatore e direttore della CB Band Orchestra. Dal 2006 Beppe collabora con Mario Biondi nei suoi Tour in tutto il mondo come trombonista ed arrangiatore.
Beppe è stato votato tra i primi 10 Trombonisti jazz italiani dai lettori di Jazzit all'interno del concorso Jazzit Awards 2011
STEVE WATERMAN is one of the top British jazz trumpet players both at home and on the international scene. He began his career while studying at Trinity College Of Music, and since then has worked regularly on the British and European jazz scene.
Steve has recorded many critically acclaimed CDs under his own name.

Steve has worked with John Surman’s Brass Project recording a CD on the ECM label THE BRASS PROJECT.
Steve has toured Europe playing at many of the major Jazz Festivals with the Carla Bley Big Band and recorded two CDs for the ECM label: BIG BAND THEORY, CARLA BLEY GOES TO CHURCH.

As a composer Steve has had a number of commissions ranging from small group to big band. These include compositions for the big band PENDULUM (formally the Berkshire Youth Jazz Orchestra). CONCERTO FOR CONGAS - commissioned for George Haslam's MELTDOWN featuring Robin Jones as the soloist. This was released on CD in 2001 for the SLAM label.
Steve has also composed a number of pieces for ROBIN JONES' KING SALSA, which can be heard on the CDs CHANGO & ACHÉ. In December 2002 Steve, along with Baritone Sax player George Haslam, were invited to perform at the Havana Jazz Festival as guests of Chucho Valdes with a Cuban big band – the band, with up to 25 members, fronted by Bobby Carcassés with many of the greatest Cuban jazz musicians, played 3 concerts in Havana and Santa Clara; the programme included Waterman directing his ‘Concerto for Congas’ and works by Cuban Jazz composer Jorge Triana Hdz.
Steve has recently started endorsing the new range of Waterman Trumpets and Flugelhorns made by Tim Oldroyd’s Geneva company.
Steve is very committed to Jazz education. He has co -written with John O’Neil a highly acclaimed Jazz Trumpet tutor book - THE JAZZ METHOD FOR TRUMPET published by Schott & Co.
He is professor of Jazz Trumpet at Trinity College of Music in London and visiting Jazz Trumpet specialist at The Royal Northern College Of Music and The Welsh College Of Music And Drama. Steve runs his own Annual Contemporary Big Band Jazz Weekend with Alan Barnes, and also teaches on many summer jazz courses and has conducted numerous Trumpet master classes and workshops ranging in size from small groups to big bands throughout the UK and in Spain, Finland, Latvia, South Africa and Cuba.
Steve has won numerous jazz awards over the years, and was again this year placed in the BBC British Jazz Awards once again.
