Since his rapid rise to fame in the mid-1960s, trumpeter Enrico
Rava has become the best known Italian Jazz musician throughout the world. Rava's
vast discography includes some real gems of artistic significance: "Quartet" (ECM
1978) "Rava l'opera Va" (Label Bleu 1993), "Easy Living" (ECM 2004), "Tati" (ECM
2005), "The Words and the Days" (ECM 2007), "New York Days" (ECM 2009) and the new
release "Tribe" (ECM 2011). Rava has also been an important collaborator with many
of the most important Italian, European and American musicians, including Franco
D'Andrea, Stefano Bollani, Philip Catherine, Lee Konitz, Aldo Romano, Joe Henderson,
John Abercrombie, Michel Petrucciani, Charlie Mariano, Joe Lovano, Archie Shepp,
John Taylor, Paul Motian, Mark Turner and more. Following in the footsteps of famous
jazz mentors like drummer Art Blakey, Rava periodically inserts young musicians
into his groups to bring new ideas and a fresher sound. Rava's New Quintet includes
several generations of musicians, each of whom brings a strong personality and solo
voice to bear.
